Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
The normal uric acid level in the blood for the adult male ranges between 3.6-8.5 mg/dL. Your level is still within the normal range. If you're concerned about getting gout or kidney stones (you have a positive family history of gout or kidney stones, or you've had kidney stones in the past), for the time bring the best preventive measures are adequate hydration (drink plenty of water especially now because of the hot weather), limit red meat intake to a maximum of twice per week, and limit alcohol intake (in case you consume alcoholic beverages). If you get symptoms of renal colic or joint inflammation in the future, you may want to do a follow up uric acid level.
