My nefew is 2 half yrs old from american mom.till now he just say few words mama dada n bye.is this bcz he s not practicing or the way american live alone is the case means no social life
This is definitely delayed speech, as we expect a child at this age to know around 300 words and, in case the child is bilingual (Arabic and English in this case), this number of words may be split into each of the two languages. A 30 month old is also expected to compose short simple sentences that have a noun and a verb, such as "I drink water".
The first step in assessing a child's speech delay is checking his/her hearing: some children have hearing deficiencies (since birth, or if they have recurrent ear infections with fluid accumulation behind the ear drum) and this is not noticed until the speech delay becomes prominent.
Further work up may be required as well depending on the evaluation, but I do recommend seeking a specialist's attention.
