Dr. Karim Farah Pulmonology
painless hematuria can be caused by :
1-kidney stones (not causing pain)
2-bladder stones
3-bladder tumor (specially that he is a heavy smoker)
4-trauma to kidneys
5-strenuous exercise (which is due to myoglobin in the urine but gives the red color.)
6-urinary tract infection specially if other associated symptoms are presentsuch as burning upon urination or fever
7-ArterioVenous Malformation

your husband need to do a urine analysis and culture and be seen by a urologist for a possible cystoscopy.
