Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
The normal heart rate of a healthy adult usually ranges between 60-100 beats per minute. Naturally, the heart rate rises with physical activity (to a certain extent, of course, and not indefinitely), and tends to be on the lower side in athletic individuals. A heart rate of 110 bpm at rest (outside exercise) is definitely elevated and deserves medical attention, eliciting a detailed history and performing a thorough medical examination of the patient. Cardiac evaluation with an electrocardiogram, plus or minus a stress test, will be determined based on the findings of the initial evaluation.
