Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
Primary teeth, also known as baby teeth or deciduous teeth erupt and she'd at times that can vary from child to child.
The 1st teeth begin to show around 6 months of age. Usually, the 2 bottom central incisors (the two bottom front teeth) are the 1st to emerge, followed by the top four front teeth. From then onward, other teeth slowly appear, usually in pairs -- one each side of the upper or lower jaw. By the time the child is 2 ½ to 3 years of age, he should have a total of 20 teeth (10 in the upper jaw and another 10 in the lower).
Other info you need to know about primary tooth eruption:
1- for every 6 months of life, +/- 4 teeth will erupt
2- Lower teeth usually appear 1st
3- Teeth in both jaws usually erupt in pairs (one on the right and one on the left).
4- Girls' teeth erupt before boys' teeth in general.
By the time a child is 2 to 3 years of age, all primary teeth should have erupted.
