I've been using Xeractan to decrease the acne on my face, it's been 2 months and my face is SLIGHTLY better, but the acne won't stop appearing. Is that normal?

Isotretinoin exerts its effects by reducing sebum (skin oil) production and shrinking the sebaceous glands (the glands that produce the sebum, an oily substance that keeps the skin hydrated and protects it against infections).
It eliminates comedones and prevents new ones from appearing. The skin becomes dry, which inhibits the growth of acne bacteria. Isotretinoin also possesses anti-inflammatory properties, reducing skin redness and swelling.

Isotretinoin is known for its extensive side effects profile: it can aggravate acne during the early stages of treatment. Usually the flare-up lasts only few weeks, but in some people the flare-up can be very severe and persist for several months. If you have a severe acne flare-up, inform your dermatologist; the addition of other medications such as oral steroids, antibiotics or acne surgery (cautery of comedones) may be advised, and the dose of isotretinoin may need to be adjusted.
