Changes in the diet, such as increasing your fiber consumption significantly (like eating oat bread and lots of fruits and vegetables in their skin), enhancing your physical activity (like starting to go to the gym recently), and drinking a lot of water, may actually induce frequent bowel movement.
Other more serious possible causes include:
1- Irritable bowel syndrome; this is a functional bowel disorder in which the motility of the intestines is not well regulated by the nervous system; sometimes it's exaggerated (so you go many times per day to the toilet), other times it's lazy (you get constipation). This is usually associated with on and off bloating, and abdominal pain that is relieved by passing a bowel movement.
2- Recent course of antibiotics: antibiotics may disturb the normal bacterial balance in the gut by promoting overgrowth of harmful bacteria (usually found in smaller numbers in the gut; namely, clostridium difficile).
3- Hyperthyroidism: an overactive thyroid gland can drive the intestines to be more active; this condition is associated with unintentional weight loss, tremors, nervousness, hot weather intolerance, and dry skin
4- Inflammatory bowel disease; sever inflammation of the intestines due to immune system malfunction (it attacks the intestinal tissues). This is associated with bloody in stools, weight loss, joint pain and swelling, and skin rashes.
If you are otherwise healthy and have no alarming signs (like weight loss, blood or mucus in stools, persistent abdominal pain, abnormally shaped stools like too watery), you do not need to worry, it's most likely transient. If however you have noticed some of these signs, consult your doctor as test may be needed to figure out the cause of your symptoms.

Annual Checkup
It is recommended that all individuals see a Family Doctor for a full medical examination annually. Adults should get their blood pressure checked (US Preventive Task Force), a flu vaccine (CDC) and more each year.
The American Dental Association recommends dental cleanings for adults at least twice annually. Some stains can only be removed by a professional cleaning.
It’s recommended by the American Academy of Ophthalmology that every adult between the ages of 18 and 80 does an eye examination at least once every two years.
It's recommended by the American Cancer Association that every adult between the age of 20 and 80 does an annual skin screening by a licensed dermatologist.
