Is there any alternative to Depakine? and what are the risks of stopping the daily intake of Depakine?
Mar 18, 2016

Dr. Ivana Dabaj Pediatric Neurology
Depakine is an antiepileptic drug and a mood stabiliser that needs to be taken according to your doctor's prescription. Stopping immediately or reducing very rapidly the dose of your medication will induce seizure as well as other side effects. Of course there are alternatives to Depakine. If it is prescribed for epilepsy there are other anti-epileptic drugs but it depends on the type of seizure. If it is prescribed for psychiatric problem there are other mood stabilisers. Please refer back with your physician before any changes.
