Is lamictal addictive? Do we create tolerance to it and would need extra doses as we go? If it is taken as a mood stabilizer, would an anti-depressant with it help, is needed, optional or it depends?

Dr. Salim Saab Otolaryngology (ENT)
Lamictal is addictive, it's usually used as an antiepileptic. We can use an anti-depressant with it to improve the mood and it is needed.

Lamictal is NOT addictive. You will not create tolerance to it however the dose will have to be increased at times (like any other medication) to reach the desired effect. It can be combined with an antidepressant however if you have bipolar, you should do so under close supervision from your psychiatrist.
