Is it true about some fruit that can heal from cancer ? or some diet that can prevent it ?
Mar 13, 2015

Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
The simple consumption of a particular fruit leading to cure from cancer is a bit of an overzealous assumption. Rather, eating whole fresh fruits (with the peel  where most of the fibers are found; fibers are very important in the prevention of heart diseases and cancers, namely colon cancer), especially those known to be rich in anti-oxidants (like blueberries, famous to contain the highest concentrations of anti oxidants), are factors that help protect our organism from the damage produced by free radicals, which are compounds produced by the break down and metabolism of certain substances and induce cancerous mutations in healthy cells. So in sum, a healthy diet, away from highly processed foods (canned, with preservatives), low in trans fats and highly processed sugars (namely high fructose corn syrup), low in salt, rich in fibers, good fats (polyunsaturated fats and omega 3 fatty acids) and antioxidants, is what we should strive for to maintain a healthy living, in concordance with regular physical activity.
