Dr. Judy Matta Pediatrics
This is probably "motion sickness". Many children experience this while in a car, boat or plane. "Car sickness" is the most common in children, However, it mostly occur in children between 2-12 years of age.
For prevention, try the following:
- If your child hasn't eaten for 3 hours, give your child a light snack before the trip and not a large meal. This relieves hunger but doesn't fill the stomach(Hunger can sometimes exacerbate nausea).
-Keep your child calm. Listen to the radio, sing songs
-Avoid strong odors such as cigarette smoke, perfumes , strong scented air freshener
-If it is a long car ride, make frequent stops,
