Is it normal for an 8-mnth old baby to have such excess saliva that i keep changing his bibs every 5min. If not normal, what could be the reason and what should i do?

Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
Your baby is at the age of starting to teeth, and teething is known to stimulate drooling in varying degrees in different babies. As long as your baby is developing for his/her age, you don't need to worry. Make sure you constantly pat off the saliva off your baby's chin so as not to have his/her skin inflamed, and use mild emolients (like Atoderm PP or Oilatum Junior) on the area. Also, have your baby sleep on his/her side to avoid noisy breathing &/or cough from pooling of saliva at the back of the throat.
