Is alopexy minoxidil 2% safe to use on the scalp of the hair? Does it have side effects?

In choosing whether to start minoxidil, it is important to understand that this is a long term commitment. If you experience hair regrowth and then you stop using the minoxidil for whatever reason, then you will lose these new hairs. The logic is though that if you are seeing the benefit, then why would you stop? And if you don't see a benefit and you discontinue use, then you have nothing to lose. All in all, about 1/3 of patient experience regrowth, 1/3 experience maintenance of hair meaning they stop losing hair, and 1/3 have no benefit at all. Minoxidil has a very low side effect profile and therefore a good option for male and female patients with pattern hair loss.

Minoxidil may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:
scalp itching, dryness, scaling, flaking, irritation, or burning
be aware if you are allergic to minoxidil or other drugs,symptoms of allergy caused are:

weight gain
swelling of the face, ankles, hands, or stomach
difficulty breathing (especially when lying down)
rapid heartbeat
chest pain
lightheadedness
