Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
What do you mean by you have fats on your body? Do you mean to say that you have excess fat deposits over certain areas of your body? Because we all have fat in our bodies and this is very normal.
Your body mass index (BMI; computed by dividing your weight in kilograms by your height in meters to the power 2) equals 23.1 kg/m2, which is in the normal range, which is 18.5–24.9 for adults.
Of course it remains undeniable that a normal BMI is not the sole nor the most important indicator of a healthy body - a more important measure or criterion is the waist circumference. The waist measurement can be taken with a tape measure
in a horizontal plane, midway between the inferior margin of the ribs and the
superior border of the iliac crest (the upper point of the hip bone). This is because central obesity is a risk factor for cardiovascular disease, diabetes and elevated cholesterol levels in the blood. This risk increases with a waist measurement that is:
  • Greater than 35 inches for women
  • Greater than 40 inches for men
