I was exposed to radiology twice or three times before I reached the age of 1. Now I have herpes simplex and other skin diseases. Is there a relation

Dr. Rania Mousa General Medicine
In the short term of radiation exposure, skin damage is a very common side effect of radiation treatment, but only in the area receiving the radiation dose., which should go away within 2 to 3 weeks after the end of treatment, this skin may be more sensitive to sun exposure for months after treatment.
As for long term side effect of radiation exposure on skin there may be some permanent changes to the color and elasticity of the skin.
But concerning herpes and skin diseases related to radiologic exposure it is unlikely to be especially that you had recieved only 2-3 radiation since 20 years.
skin changes related to radiation exposure in long term might be related to thining of skin in that area and sensetivity to sun.
