I think it happens on both hands. But it's mainly a nerve in my thumbs that shake, rarely the entire hand. And it shakes for a bit and then it stops.

So it's more like a twitch than a tremor. This is usually benign and not considered a serious issue, especially when it is this much localized. Usually it may signify that the affected nerve is overworked, and this would be expected to occur in your dominant hand that you use frequently for typing and such. If however this twitch persists for more than a month, or progresses (in terms of duration, starts to last for longer than a few seconds, or starts to involve other parts of your body), then you should have to seek medical evaluation to get to the bottom of it.
