I spend 9 hours/day at the office so I want to go to gym to prevent disc problems. But i have scoliosis. Can anyone recommend good gym exercises to prevent disc and not harm scoliosis?

Dr. Ghassan Nawfal Surgery
In general, adults with scoliosis can engage in exercise and recreational sports without undue risk. However, the type of exercise and how vigorous one can be at the gym depends on the degree of scoliosis you have. The best person to answer you would be the doctor who examined you and saw your X-rays.
In general, for patients with scoliosis, improving the mobility of the hips and the strength of the back muscles reduces the stress on the back from daily activities and leads to a reduction in pain, if present. This can be accomplished by performing strengthening exercises at home or at the gym several times per week including regular walking, bicycling and other aerobic activities. As for preventing disc disease, add abdominal exercises to the above.
