I saw on one of the previous answers that laser whitening takes 30 minutes. I was told in the dental center that it's a 2 hours session! Should I worry that it may not be really laser?

yes whitening takes 2 hours when we use halogen light system,it was known as laser bleaching,but now there is a new generation of true diod laser beam,this procedure will take 30 min..

All whitening procedures performed in the clinic was known to be called laser whitening, but not all of them are laser, these procedures may use halogen light, plasma light, Led light, Metal halide light, Blue light, but also Laser diode.
All these procedures needs a varying time from 20 minutes up to 2 hours. One of the shortest are procedures that use laser or Metal Halide lights, but be aware that one session with any kind of light may be not enough to get the desired result and a second session become necessary so a 30 minutes procedure become 60 minutes or more.
Better to ask your dr. what he is using and is the 2 hours procedure is the maximum time expected or the lowest, if it is the lowest, then for sure it is not a laser, if it is the maximum time expected, maybe he is talking about 4 laser sessions of 30 minutes, that is the maximum number of sessions needed for difficult dark teeth

In theory, light-assisted teeth whitening using ultra-violet, laser, or other source of heat producing lights, will increase the decomposition of the whitening gel and allow a faster oxidation, but in practice, this increase is not significant compared to in-office whitening without a light source. Also note that the potential side effects are higher with UV or laser due to dehydration of teeth.
