I have very low ferritin of 3.3, however my iron and hemoglobin levels are normal. My hematocrit MCH and MCV are all low. I was born with thalassemia minor. Could this be the reason for low ferritin?

Your result values are a little bit odd in terms that usually when hematocrit is low then hemoglobin is low too. However, answering your main question, low ferritin levels means low iron storage and is not related at all to thalassemia. So probably you have iron deficiency anemia in addition to your thalassemia. I advice you to let a physician have a look at your results for better assessment.
