Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
The length of each menstrual cycle and the frequency of menstruation is unpredictable in women with PCOS. The cycles can be ovulatory (with production of an egg) or anovulatory (no egg comes out). However if your cycle is heavy and occurring twice per month, there's risk of developing anemia, despite the fact that menstrual irregularities are expected. You need to consult a gynecologist in order to better evaluate the problem and maybe start you on oral contraceptive pills. If however you're already on treatment and still having trouble in the cycle then you need to follow up with your treating physician.
