I have level 113 of sugar mornnig
Aug 16, 2014

Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
113 is elevated for fasting blood sugar (measured before eating. Was this on a single occasion or has it been happening often? Inany case, further studies must be done, including a fasting blood sugar (in the lab), oral glucose tolerance test (in which you are given a certain amount of sugar, and blood sugar is then measured 1*&2 hours later), urine analysis (to look for sugar in the urine), C-peptide level (this is related to insulin and indicates problems in insulin function).
These tests are of course done to rule out diabetes mellitus, which in adults is type 2 (usually due to the body becoming resistant to the effects of insulin - which are stocking sugar in the liver as glycogen) with subsequent elevation in blood sugar which will be cleared in the urine. Symptoms of diabetes include excessive thirst (polydypsia), frequent urination (polyuria), weight loss, dizziness. In advanced cases of untreated diabetes, we fear of organ damage: the heart may muscle may grow weak and cannot pump blood properly, the kidneys are affected with resulting inappropriate elimination of toxins, the retina and the lens in the eyes are also affected with gradual deterioration in vision, and the sexual organs can also suffer with eventual impotence.
You are strongly advised to follow up on this issue and initiate dietary and lifestyle changes along with the necessary treatment as soon as possible.
