Dr. Rania Mousa General Medicine
There are some headaches that may temporarily improve with blood donations. Patients with polycythemia or macroglobulinemia and hyperviscosity syndrome have increased blood volume and may have headaches that improve with phlebotomy and removal of 500 ml of blood which is the amount that is removed with blood donation and such patients are advised to donate blood in intervals so that they cure their condition.
if a migraine induced by high iron level or by high blood pressure also donating blood will be helpfull in this case by lowering blood volume.
on the other side having headache after short night sleeps ,you might be having a migraine triggered by insufficiency of sleep take pain killers and sleep well will be all what you need ,you know the cause then treat the cause ,donation in this case will not treat the migraine unless you have any of the mentioned condition i stated above.
