I have a weakness in my pinky and ring fingers. Sometimes I feel losing sense with these two fingers, any idea what could be the problem?

Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
The 4th (ring finger) and 5th (pinky) digits of the hand are supplied by the same nerve, known as the ulnar nerve. Sensations of numbness and tingling, what is called paresthesias, usually indicate that there is some sort of compression on this nerve. Common causes include disc disease in the neck, especially if the numbness and tingling involve the forearm and arm as well. Nerve compression at the level of the wrist joint is another possibility, and this could be related to the kind of job you have. In order to accurately localize the source of the nerve compression, you are advised to get examined by a physician in the clinic.
