I'm experiencing mild pain below my rib cage on the right side. I feel uncomfortable, a bit heavy and bloated. Could it be the liver? Are these symptoms of hepatitis or is it normal pain?
These symptoms may indeed be the result of liver inflammation, whether from a hepatitis or other infection, or due to gall bladder inflammation. Furthermore, merely bloated intestines could compress against the diaphragm and produce similar symptoms. In order to distinguish between these possible entities, a detailed history and a thorough physical exam in the doctor's office are needed, in addition to basic lab tests.
