when you cough or laugh do you feel pain and a bulge in the area of pain ,then probably this will be inguinal hernia.if no bulge it could be sports hernia .
>>A sports hernia injury happens with similar movements to that of a groin strain. It generally occurs during high speed activities that involve twisting, or rotating the body, like fast changes in direction. Soccer, basketball and football are all examples of sports that involve these motions.Hockey players have a higher incidence of this injury due to their forward lean while skating. The injury occurs at the base of the abdominal muscles. In this area the muscles have formed down to a thin sheath and if weakness is present, an excessive force can result in a tearing of the tissue. Contrary to its name a sports hernia occurs without a herniation or bulge in the area. The signs and symptoms of a sports hernia include:
-Pain in the lower abdomen
-Groin pain
-Pain with coughing, sneezing, laughing
-Chronic groin pain that is only felt during exertion
Once your sports hernia is definitively diagnosed, your doctor will most likely recommend seven to 10 days of rest as well as anti-inflammatory medication and ice packs to reduce the pain and swelling. After this rest period, you may be given light exercises to do at home to strengthen the area or you may be asked to visit a physical therapist. If you follow your doctor's guidelines and the pain still persists you may need surgery to repair the damage.
An inguinal hernia occurs when tissue pushes through a weak spot in your groin muscle. This causes a bulge in the groin or scrotum. The bulge may hurt or burn. You are more likely to get a hernia if you are overweight or you do a lot of lifting, coughing, or straining. Hernias are more common in men
-A bulge in the groin or scrotum.
-Groin discomfort or pain.
-You may have sudden pain, nausea, and vomiting if part of the intestine becomes trapped (strangulated) in the hernia.
-Heaviness, swelling, and a tugging or burning sensation in the area of the hernia, scrotum, or inner thigh. Males may have a swollen scrotum, and females may have a bulge in the large fold of skin (labia) surrounding the vagina.
-Discomfort and aching that are relieved only when you lie down. This is often the case as the hernia grows larger
SO better to check with the doctor with your case he is the one who will do physical examination and certain images and can diagnose and give the appropriate treatment plan .
