I have a cyst on the ovary and i'm having soon an operation to remove it? Can it cause problems to get pregnant or after that evrything should be normal? What are the negative and positive effects ?
It's still possible to get pregnant after a cyst removal. Usually, there aren't negative effects. As positive effect, the symptoms relative to the cyst will disappear. Although a hormonal work-up must be done before the cyst removal.
As Dr Saab mentioned you have to have a few tests and an ultrasound to know what type of ovarian cyst it is ( simple cyst, endometrioma cyst, hemorrhagic cyst etc..)
Also the size of the cyst is important and whether it is causing symptoms or not.
If the assessment means that a surgery has to be done then a laparoscopic surgery to remove the cyst and conserve the ovary intact is the best option to also allow for a quick healing and the least internal scarring possible. If done correctly this should not alter your fertility.
