I have a cut on my leg about 3mm wide and 8cm long. No more than 1mm deep. I don't know how quickly it should heal or how to tell if it's infected. How can I treat it?
Cleaning your wound daily with betadine or a local antiseptic is important.
It is infected if the borders are red, painful and you have pus coming out of the wound (yellowish, thick and sticky substance). You should then consult a doctor.
By the way, did you check your tetanos status? When was the last vaccine you had? It should be done every 10 years.
