Dr. Rania Mousa General Medicine
The question of what you feel is how long does have this lump been there ,is there any pain associated with it ,is there any change in size or color of the skin above ,many symptoms may indicate the underlying cause .
The good point is that your limp is movable but despite that a doctor or a general surgeon must see it to evaluate it and check it depending on the location and other symptoms
it may be as simple as it can but also might be serious (rarely in your case )

There are many causes of lumps in the neck. The most common lumps or swellings are enlarged lymph nodes. These can be caused by bacterial or viral infections, cancer (malignancy), or other rare causes.

Swollen salivary glands under the jaw may be caused by infection or cancer. Lumps in the muscles of the neck are caused by injury or torticollis. These lumps are often at the front of the neck. Lumps in the skin or just below the skin are often caused by cysts, such as sebaceous cysts.
AS a rule any lump must be seen by a doctor to check its features and be diagnosed to exclude any serious condition .
