Dr. Rania Mousa General Medicine
myalgia is muscle pain it can range from mild to severe. Though it often goes away in a few days, sometimes muscle pain can stay for months. Muscle pain can develop almost anywhere in your body, including your neck, back, legs and even your hands.
The most common causes of myalgia are tension, stress, overuse and minor injuries.
however if you are confused between fibromyalgia and myalgia note that fibromyalgia is a chronic medical condition that causes muscle pain, which is also known as myalgia. Myalgia is the technical term for muscle pain and may be associated with many medical conditions such as fibromyalgia, lupus, arthritis and illnesses such as the flu.
Myalgia (muscle pain )may be treated with ibuprofen or prescription pain medications. If fibromyalgia is present, medications such as Lyrica and Cymbalta may help with symptoms.
the medicine prescribed by your doctor is used in lower doses as antidepressent which can help in fibromyalgia treatment but usually treatment of fibromyalgia Cymbalta.
