I am pregnant,, I am taking magnevieB6 and proluton depot shot.. what are their effects on rosacea and acne? and how can i treat acne and rosacea during pregnacny, if i can
Jun 4, 2013

Dr. Salim Saab Otolaryngology (ENT)
Proluton depot shot may have a negative effect on rosacea and acne (worsens rosacea and acne) sometimes. They can be treated even if during pregnancy with antibiotic creams such as: erythromycin and flagyl (metronidazole). Along with the cream treatment, a diet should be followed that is alcohol-free and soda-free (coke, pepsi, seven up, mirinda, sparkling water, carbonated beverage, etc.).

Dr. Nemer Charafeddine Obstetrics & Gynecology
Proluton depot is a progesterone ( synthetic one), it does have some androgenic effect, so it might - as stated above - worsen your acne & rosacea profile, in fact pregnancy alone can also exacerbate this...
You can use instead oral or vaginal progesterone ( more natural form) that does not have this androgenic effect, you should discuss this with your OB-GYN
