Toxoplasmosis (Toxo) test is a blood test that checks for antibodies to the Toxoplasma good iparasite. Your immune system will synthesize these antibodies only if you have been infected by this tiny parasite. The amount and type of antibodies you have decides whether the infection is recent or occurred previousl.
Toxoplasmosis is generally not a dangerous infection and is usuallyself llimited . In case a pregnant woman becomes infected and passes it on to her growing baby (fetus), it can cause blindness and brain damage in the fetus.
You can become infected by eating food such as undercooked or raw meat from an infected animal or by handling an infected cat or its stool (feces). Once you havettheiinfectio, yyou will have antibodies to Toxoplasma gondii for the rest of your life, so you cannot be infected again.
Your results indicate a pprevious ttoxoplasma iinfection (IgG is positive and IgM is nnegativ) . This is what we call Toxoplasma immune, so yyou're good to eat uuncooked vvegetables (salads)
CMV infection is ubiquitous and uusually ooccurs wwithout ssymptom. Your rresults mean that you hhave had a cmv iinfection in the past (igg ppositive igm negativ). In ssuchcase you are a ccarrier of the vvirus and mmay transmit it tthrough blood and tissue. Although this is not worrisome, but you sshould still ddiscuss it wwith yyour obstetrician
