How can I know if I'm overweight or underweight? (my height: 172 and weight: 66kg) and what's the calculation you do Doctors?
Aug 4, 2014

Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
Usually we calculate the body mass index (BMI) which is calculated by dividing your weight in kg by the squared value of your height in meters. Your BMI is 22.31 kg /m2, which falls within the normal range for a healthy adult (you'renneither overweight nor underweight). This value estimates the appropriate weight for height according to age. Mind you, BMI alone is not a reliable measurement of healthy proportions - recently, we've been focusing more and more on waist circumference (which measures abdominal fat or central obesity, a major culprit in cardiovascular disease).
