I just had my abdomen scan and they said my left ovary is bulky and is 51 mm in axis and seen few follicles. And I have some free fluid in my POD. What does this mean?

Dr. Rania Mousa General Medicine
A scan by itself usually is more important to be read beside the symptoms you complain of. Bulky ovaries are usually a sign of Polycystic ovarian disease (PCOS). The stromal thickness increases giving the ovaries a bulky size. Well, the scan also mentions that there are few follicles which are the ones to develop into eggs.
Your doctor might prescribe you duphaston to regulate your period, usually an irregular period is a symptom of PCOS.

You may have only a few symptoms or a lot of them. The most common symptoms are:
-Acne.
-Weight gain and trouble losing weight.
-Extra hair on the face and body. Often women get thicker and darker facial hair and more -hair on the chest, belly, and back.
-Thinning hair on the scalp.
-Irregular periods.
-Fertility problems. Many women who have PCOS have trouble getting pregnant (infertility).
-Depression.
