The latest research on the effects of Vitamin E, an antioxidant known to be capable of scavenging (destroying) the harmful oxygen free radicals that play a major role in inflicting harm on cells, has suggested that there is some benefit of Vitamin E in patients who have a mild to moderate form of Alzheimer's disease as Vitamin E was found to slow functional decline. The dose given in this study was 2000 IU per day; but remember this study was NOT conducted on healthy individuals and Vitamin E is not thought of to prevent the occurrence of Alzheimer's disease.
