Hi doctors I'm having faster heart beat
Aug 24, 2016

Dr. Rania Mousa General Medicine
Tachycardia is a faster than normal heart rate at rest. A healthy adult heart normally beats 60 to 100 times a minutes

A number of conditions can cause a rapid heart rate and tachycardia symptoms.
It's important to get a prompt, accurate diagnosis and appropriate care.Proper diagnosis is very important, since the severity of tachycardia ranges greatly, the cause may be as simple as having caffeine sensitivity leading to tachycardia and may be more severe and complicated associated with heart problems or lung problems, the causes vary and depends on the onset, how long this had been and other symptoms ,the doctor can determine the cause and the proper diagnosis through physical examination ,blood tests and other investigations

Since the heart and lungs work together in a close relationship, a problem with one of these organs almost always affects the other.tachycardia and SOB(shortness of breath)are strongly related

Many things can cause or contribute to problems with the heart's electrical system. These factors include:

-Damage to heart tissues from heart disease
-Abnormal electrical pathways in the heart present at birth (congenital)
-Disease or congenital abnormality of the heart
-High blood pressure
-Smoking
-Fever
-Drinking too much alcohol
-Drinking too many caffeinated beverages
-A side effect of medications
-Abuse of recreational drugs, such as cocaine
-Imbalance of electrolytes, mineral-related substances necessary for conducting electrical impulses
-Overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism)

and there are several types of tachycardia ,you need to be seen by a cardiologist
to diagnose the condition and determine the specific type of tachycardia, the doctor will evaluate your symptoms, conduct a physical examination and order several heart tests,
like ECG, hotler test ,CBC ,TSH ft3 ft4 ,some chemistry lab tests all according to symptoms

Several tests may be ordered to diagnose tachycardia.

tips to help regulate the condition :

Exercise and eat a healthy diet-Maintain a healthy weight- Keep blood pressure and cholesterol levels under control- Make lifestyle changes and take medications as prescribed to correct high blood pressure (hypertension) or high cholesterol.
Stop smoking-Drink in moderation- Don't use recreational drugs- Don't use stimulants, such as cocaine-Use over-the-counter medications with caution-Some cold and cough medications contain stimulants that may trigger a rapid heartbeat.Limit caffeine-
If you drink caffeinated beverages, do so in moderation.
Control stress-Go to scheduled checkups- Have regular physical exams and report any signs or symptoms to your doctor.
BUT if the condition continues you must undergo tests.
