Dr. Rania Mousa General Medicine
There are two parts for your question
one is that you have a flank pain(waist pain ) radiating or extending to you back
-or that you have a back pain radiating to your waist or flanks

if it is a flank pain radiating you must check for urinary symptoms ,if you have a constant or severe flank pain it may be caused by a serious medical condition, such as an infection in the urinary tract or kidneys or dehydration. If severe flank pain occurs suddenly it could be from kidney stones. If it is chronic then it could be from several other causes.

>if the pain is a back pain radiating to your flanks it may be as simple as muscles spasms or more serious problem.
A back pain may have many causes involved in ,lower back has different interconnecting and overlapping elements that may contribute to a pain these might be of:
-Tendons and muscles and other soft tissues ,such pain from resultant lower back muscle spasms can be severe and is worse on physical activities .
Highly sensitive nerves and nerve roots that travel from the lower back down into the legs and feet, such as compressed nerve due to intervertebral disc or disc hernia
Small and complex joints
Spinal discs
An irritation or problem with any of these structures can cause lower back pain and it can radiates or is referred to other parts of the body such as the flanks and sometimes to the legs ,and pain from a number of syndromes can become chronic.
While lower back pain is extremely common, the symptoms and severity of lower back pain vary greatly, a degenerating disc might cause only mild, intermittent discomfort.

Identifying the symptoms, along with an accurate diagnosis of the underlying cause of the pain, is the first step in obtaining effective pain relief. So check with your doctor for further tests , imaging scans and blood tests to diagnose your flank pain. Imaging scans—such as an ultrasound or X-ray—allow your doctor to look deep within your body. These scans can reveal problems in the organs, tissues, muscles, and bones.

Stomach bloating as well may have different causes depending on other symptoms felt ,it may be excess gas or cold ,food intolerance ,IBS ,constipation, food eating habits ,medications ,other serious problems ,consult a doctor for further tests and investigations for proper treatment .
