Dr. Pierre Mardelli Ophthalmology
It is impossible for a contact lens to be truly lost in the eye because the conjunctiva, which lines both the globe and the inner lid, prevents the contact lens from disappearing behind the eye. On rare occasions, you may displace a contact lens into the cul-de-sac or to the side of the eye. Soft lenses may fold or tear in the eye and become lodged in the superior cul-de-sac, requiring an office removal.

Pierre G. Mardelli
