First off it is Pseudomonas. And it's a bacterium,not a virus.
Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a kind of bacteria that is often carried around by healthy individuals but is generally inconsequential. Possible problems include swimmer's ear and hot tub rash.

Hospitalized individuals, who are usually weak because of illness, surgery, or treatment, may acquire this infection which can spread through medical equipment. The bacteria can also get into the body through intravenous needles or catheters. For example, pseudomonas is one of the main causes of pneumonia in patients who are on breathing machines. Pseudomonas have a preference for moist environments, such as hot tubs and swimming pools, where they can cause a skin rash or swimmer's ear.
People who use contact lenses and fail to maintain their contact lenses and solutions sterile can develop serious eye infections if pseudomonas contaminates their contact lens solutions.

Symptoms depend on the location of the infection:
- wound: green-blue pus with a distinctive sweet smell in or around the area.
-swimmer's ear: outer ear redness, pain, and probably pus.
- pneumonia: cough + fever.
But all pseudomonas infections can make you very sick if they spread through the bloodstream (septicemia)

Antibiotics are the main treatment. Usually a combination of two different kinds are used.

Rigorous and frequent hand-washing is the mainstay of prevention:

Proper hand hygiene: use soap and clean, running water or alcohol-based hand sanitizer to clean your hands. Keep cuts and scrapes clean and covered with a bandage. Avoid contact with other people's wounds or bandages. Don't share personal items like towels or razors.

Always ask your doctor if antibiotics are necessary; if so, take them as prescribed. Using the medicine erratically may lead to the development of antibiotic-resistant bacteria to develop.
