Hello Drs. , I just want to ask , what does it mean bacteria ++ in urine analysis?
Jul 13, 2015

Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
A result of bacteria++ on a urine analysis indicated a potential urinary infection, but this result is inconclusive as it could also be a contamination if you have not decontaminated the area properly prior to providing the urine sample. Usually, we suspect that this is just a contaminant if we additionally notice numerous epithelial cells on the urine analysis report.
The best way to confirm whether this is an actual infection or a contamination is by running a urine culture.
