I'm very depressed even though I saw a Psychiatrist for 2 months and he gave me cipralex 15mg, lexopam 2 mg. It's been six months now and I'm still depressed, what should I do?

Dr. Georges Karam Psychiatry
Hello,
There are several things that you can do.
First you should discuss with your doctor if you will benefit from a higher dose of Cipralex. 15mg is an average dose (and not high dose). Secondly, you can switch antidepressants. Not everyone responds to the same medication. 70 % of people respond to the 1st medication prescribed. The other 30% will need to try another medication. Thirdly, have you considered therapy? Cognitive behavioural therapy for example has been proven to be an excellent tool (alone or in combination with medication) to fight depression. In conclusion, there are SEVERAL options and it is best to discuss those with your psychiatrist. Good luck!

Hello, you have to consult your psychiatrist and he will help you. There are a lot of alternative methods to help patients who have not responded well to the first trial of antidepressants and I am sure your doctor is aware of that.
