Hello! do you have real treatment for vitiligo
Jul 20, 2014

Dr. Rania Mousa General Medicine
well to know how a treatment work with vitiligo ,it is important to know the mechanism of vitiligo ,vitiligo is an acquired skin depigmentation that results from an autoimmune process directed against the melanocytes. The pathogenesis is thought to involve an autoimmune process directed against melanocytes.
So you can now know that a treatment will not stop the disease because of the autoimmune process of the disease, but rather all the treatments of vitiligo are to help improve your skin's appearance since the loss of pigment cells will not be regained by drugs .
for this reason a doctor will try and try what will work for a specific patient ,sometimes a medicine good for one not working for other ,you must see what is effective in your case even if you try several medicines .

treatment options :
-A topical corticosteroid may help return color to (repigment) your skin, particularly if you start using it early in the disease. You may not see a change in your skin's color for several months.
-Topical calcipotriene (Dovonex) is a cream that can be used with corticosteroids or ultraviolet light
-there are medications that can affect immune system
-medication that is used with light therapy
-laser therapy may be used in small areas of vitiligo
-try to protect your skin from sun to avoid new patches
-do not tattoo your skin this might increase skin damage and make the patches more
-Ginkgo biloba may return skin color in people with slow spreading vitiligo.
-folic acid and vitamin B-12 plus sunlight may restore skin color for some people.
