Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
Well it seems like you may have a tendency for blood clotting, but this is only a possibility based upon the test results (especially that the report does not specify whether this is a total or free level of Protein S, and the criteria based upon which the severity of the deficiency is classified requires that both total and free levels be measured). As such, only your treating doctor who is aware of all the details of your condition can conclusively interpret these results. The main concern is whether or not the risk of blood clotting known to be associated with the chronic administration of oral contraceptive pills (OCPs) outweighs their benefit in your particular case, or vice versa, and this is what you should be discussing at length with your doctor.
