Using natural methods to delay your periods is safe for a few days up till a few weeks. If you want to delay your periods for a longer period than that, it is advisable to get a doctor's professional opinion. Delaying your periods frequently will hamper with the normal functioning of your body, so you are advised to try these various methods only when your need is very urgent.
Since it comes due to drop in hormone then several factors can contribute with this and the only way to delay is to stop the drop in the hormone by giving it instead through the pill prescribed by doctor.
Given below are a few tips to delay your periods naturally, but ofcourse with no guarantee that these natural ways will delay a period.
1-Exercise more. Increase the amount of physical activity you engage in as much as you can safely manage, starting two to four weeks prior to the time of your next expected period.
2-Refraining from eating spicy food or avoiding spicy food in your regular diet will be an effective way to delay your period naturally. Make sure to avoid common spices like garlic, pepper or ginger. Start this diet at least two weeks before the date to delay your periods.
3-Avoid foods that increase the "heat" in your body,Foods thought to increase "heat" in the body include papaya, sesame, mangoes, pineapple, dates, and many root vegetables.
4-For a full week prior to the onset of your period, consume fried gram lentil soup with warm water on a daily basis.
5-doses of B6 vitamins daily.
6-Ask your doctor for a norethisterone prescription. This drug is usually used to ease the symptoms of irregular or abnormally painful menstruation but can delay your period
