well, definitely, like most diseases , there are always new drugs and regimens. Concerning UC, the approach depends on the extent, severity as well as the duration of the disease. New drugs (Biologics) have shown excellent results in inducing and maitaining remission. Surgery when indicated (Uncontroled disease, dysplasia i.e cells become precancerous...) is curative. A patient with UC needs to be continuously followed medically to insure he is recieving the best care.
