Airplane headache is a common condition nowadays. The attacks don't appear to happen every time people fly. The headache may be due to an imbalance between the air pressure in the cabin and that in the frontal sinuses of the person, likely due to several factors such as the shape of the sinuses, as well as the speed of the aircraft, cabin pressure, and even the maximum altitude reached. Air travelers may also get a migraine from lack of sleep, stress, or holding their neck in an awkward position during a long flight. In some cases, taking a non-steroid anti-inflammatory pill along with a nasal decongestant spray about 1/2 hour before landing may help relieve or prevent the pain.
